Frequently Asked Questions

I help not-for-profits and social-impact organisations convert their evidence and advocacy into real influence. Most organisations know the problem better than anyone, but don’t always know how to navigate the political system: who to brief, what to ask, how to frame it, and when government is actually making decisions. I bring that clarity — through political timing, targeted messaging, better submissions, and training for boards and executives on how government actually thinks and works.

I’ve spent the last eight years inside politics — working in both state and federal government and advising Ministers and Members of Parliament on policy, legislation, campaigns and communications. I’ve held senior roles including Senior Policy Advisor, Senior Parliamentary Advisor and Acting Deputy Strategic Communications Manager, and I’ve worked directly with government agencies, industry groups, peak bodies and community stakeholders. My experience spans everything from drafting major policy frameworks and legislative material to coordinating parliamentary strategy and leading large communications teams. I understand how government thinks and operates because I’ve been on the inside of those decisions, and I now use that experience to help organisations engage more effectively and confidently.

I also spent 4 years on the board of Amnesty International WA and 2 years as Vice President so understand the efforts involved in lobbying and navigating government as a social justice organisation

I’m not a lobbyist for hire — I’m a strategist for purpose-driven organisations. Where corporate lobbyists push for profit outcomes, I help community organisations influence government for social good. My focus is transparency, relationships, and helping your team build long-term internal capacity — not dependence.

Common projects include:

  • Developing advocacy or government relations strategies

  • Drafting and reviewing submissions, briefs, and position papers

  • Providing political literacy training for boards, staff, and CEOs

  • Advising on campaign timing around budgets, inquiries, or elections

  • Setting up simple systems to track stakeholder engagement, Hansard mentions, and media activity

Because great research and moral arguments aren’t enough — policy change happens when you understand the political environment. I help bridge that gap so your evidence and advocacy land at the right time, with the right people, and in the right format.

As my expertise and experience is with WA politics, I currently only work with clients looking to understand or work with the WA State Government and the Federal Government.

Absolutely. Election periods are crucial windows for influence. I can help you:

  • Refine your messaging to align with party priorities

  • Build relationships with candidates and advisers

  • Design campaign briefs, events, and timing to maximise political impact

Yes. All consultations and strategy materials are treated with strict confidentiality.

Yes — I adjust fees for grassroots or volunteer-run groups to make strategy support accessible.

Definitely — that’s part of my model. The goal is to leave your organisation with lasting skills and tools, not dependency on consultants.
